In the nineties, during a transformative period for Dhaka City College, the non-political student organization Dhaka City College Student Council was established in 1991 under the guidance of the late Professor Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, the former principal of Dhaka City College, a founder member of modern Dhaka City College, and a key figure in its development. This initiative was undertaken by like-minded teachers. A few years later, with the encouragement of Professor Nur Muhammad Zayeed, a famous geography teacher at Dhaka City College, two of the founder councilors of the Dhaka City College Student Council, Mohammed Abdur Razzak and Mohammed Naved Hossain, informally established the Dhaka Citian Club.
